Quaresma in Aruba

Right after the last Carnival grand parade in Oranjestad, one of the islands oldest traditions Quaresma started.

After enjoying carnival in their masquerades and costumes,  Catholic natives prepare for the easter holiday by doing personal reflection.

Better known as Lent season, starting from ash Wednesday March 6, 2019 ending on April 18, 2019, before easter Sunday.

There’s also several church service and processionary masses held at local churches.

Before quarisma ends, locals go out camping on the beach with families and friends for a week.

Camping is also a long time tradition on the island, spending time with family.

Beaches like Arashi, Baby beach, Bushiri beach and surfside will be dotted with tents and people having fun.




Aruba Prepares For Himno & Bandera

Aruba is eagerly anticipating and preparing for flag day.

The National Anthem and Flag Day holiday is held each year on March 18th and celebrates Aruba’s independence.

Better known as “Dia di Himno y Bandera”, a day when a lots of folkloric events are held on the island, families get together and enjoy their beautiful island.

You’re welcome to join the different family activities around the island and take part in local traditions.

During this holiday most stores will be closed.

Caribe Wave 2019 – Tsunami Simulation in Aruba

The department of calamity management and the local meteorological department are simulating a tsunami on March  14, 2019 as part of Caribewave.

Carib Wave is a Regional Emergency Response Training coordinated by UNESCO.

With help of a simulation, Aruba trains a crisis response to any future possible calamity.

Simulation will take place on March 14, 2019 as of 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. After an emergency sms and radio transmissions by local authorities, the danger and safety plan will be notified.

All local authorities, first response departments, local companies, schools and hotels are participating in the Carib Wave simulation.

The reason for different countries in the world, including Aruba to participate? To find out how prepared Aruba is incase of a tsunami or any other national energy.


Rotary Club Charity Event

One of Aruba’s popular charity event, Fiesta Rotaria, organized by Rotary Club will takes place on March 31, 2019.

This is the 39th year.

at the parking lot of Guillermo Trinidad.

Rotary charity festivals are popular because of the activities for the whole family, raffles, sale on different items like supermarket products, clothing, homeware and hardware.

There’s also snacks, food tents, and live entertainment.

Besides having good sales, fiesta rotaria has a popular raffle and the profits go towards contribution to their annual community projects.  

This year you can win different prizes: KIA Sportage XL 2019, flight with KLM, All inclusive cruises, Smart TV and several other differente gift certificates.

Rotary festival is the largest charity organization that contributes to local foundations and organizations in our community.

Soul Beach Festival Line Up

The promoters of soul beach released the line up of artist that will perform on the stage this year.

Here’s a list of artist that will be on the island for soul beach during memorial day weekend:

  • John Legend
  • Charlie Wilson
  • Ella Mai
  • H.E.R.
  • Deon Cole (Comedian)
  • DJ Jazzy Jeff

The festival is going to offer an unique combination of excitement in a paradise setting.

Soul beach music festival is known to have the best internationally renowned performing music artist and comedians.

John Legend and Ella Mai will be headlining the Soul Beach Festival.

John Legend will be signing all of his hits – All of Me, Ordinary People, Green Light, Glory and Used to Love me. And everyone’s ready to sing the words to Ella Mai’s popular hits like Boo’d Up and Ready.

Besides a music festival, there’s going to be different beach parties, pool parties and other events around the island.

Soul Beach Music festival will take place May 22 – 27, 2019.

Hotel in Seroe Colorado – About The Developers  

A local news channel on the island (24ora) released the names of the developers of the new hotel in Seroe Colorado.

At first the identity of the developers were not released when the Government announced the possible  hotel project in Seroe Colorado.

According to 24 ora, it’s a Spanish Hotel developer company, named Grupo Martinon Grumasa S.L.

Investing in the construction of hotels in the Caribbean region since the 1980’s, the Spanish group promises unlimited luxury to couples, and couples with children.

Not only are they in the hotel industry, they also invest in real estate, and the industrial market, focused on food, construction and energy.  

Grupo Martinon has a vision to create an all inclusive eco resort that will strengthen the environmental value and tourism sector. And become a part of the master plan for tourism in Seroe Colorado.

According to tourism minister, additional tourism oriented developments will take place, including the beautification of Baby beach and Rodgers beach.

New facilities and parking spaces will also be added in this area.

The Government did not closed the deal yet, until official announcements.
