If you’re staying for more than a day – yes!
It all depends on your itinerary.
If you’re planning to go off road and want to see Natural Pool you will need a jeep.
A compact car, for example a Hyundai Accent is great for beach hopping. It’s economic and easy to drive around the island.
You can also rent a van if you’re travelling with a big group of people.
You can pay for extra insurance.
It’s not mandatory that you accept this insurance – completely up to you.
This insurance is called collision damage waive and it covers a collision caused by you to the rental car.
It doesn’t cover a collision in which a third party is not involved or in case of theft (only collisions).
Let’s say you accidentally drive your car against a wall. And there’s no other vehicle involved you will be held responsible for the material damage.
If for example the cost to repair the car is estimated $1500. You will only have to pay the amount of the deductible of your insurance. But, if the cost of the damage is less than the deductible then you only pay to repair the damage.
The cost per day for the CDW insurance varies for the type of vehicle being rented.
For example a Hyundai Accent would be $10 per day with a deductible of $500. And if you’re renting a SUV the rate is $15 per day with a deductible of $750. A exotic car like a Lexus has a rate of $25 per day and a deductible of $1000.
